Moderation
Plan — Moderation is available on Startup and above. On the Free plan the switches are visible but disabled, so you can always see whether a board holds submissions for review. Moderation that is already on is never turned off for you — a board that was moderated stays moderated, and its queue keeps working — but you can't turn it on for a new board. By default, a public board publishes instantly: anything submitted through the public form or the embedded widget goes live on the board, the roadmap, and the widget the moment it's created. That's great for momentum — until spam, test posts, or off-topic requests start landing in front of everyone.
Moderation puts a review step in front of public input, without slowing down your team.
Turning it on
Enable moderation for a workspace under Settings (the moderation toggle). While it's on, every submission from an untrusted source — the public board form and the cross-origin widget — is held as pending instead of being published. Posts your team creates from the dashboard are trusted and skip the queue.
Individual boards can differ: open a board and use the Moderation switch in
its header. Every board on the Boards list shows where it stands —
Moderated for boards that hold submissions for review, and a muted
Not moderated for boards that publish straight away — so no board's setting is
left to guesswork.
The review queue
Pending submissions collect in the Moderation area of your dashboard, with a count badge in the sidebar so you know when something's waiting. For each one you can:
- Approve — the post publishes and behaves like any other (voting, statuses, roadmap, widget).
- Reject — the post is withheld and never appears publicly.
The queue has two views, switched with the Pending / Rejected control at the top. Each carries a live count, so you can see what's waiting without opening it. Rejecting is not permanent: rejected posts move to the Rejected view, where Restore publishes them after all — useful when something legitimate gets caught by mistake.
If you run several boards, the All boards dropdown next to the view switcher narrows the queue to one of them. The counts follow the filter, so they always describe what you're about to look at. Both the view and the board filter live in the page's address, so a filtered queue can be bookmarked or shared with a teammate.
What your users see
Nothing changes for the person submitting — their post is accepted as usual. It simply doesn't appear on the public board or roadmap until you approve it, so spam and duplicates never reach your audience. Turn moderation off at any time and submissions resume publishing immediately.
